How To Find Steading 5, Balvatin Cottages

Newtonmore is situated in the geographical centre of Scotland on the main A9 road which stretches from Stirling northward towards Inverness and beyond.   The location of Steading 5, Balvatin Cottages just off the A9 means you have great access in all directions to the scenery and amentities of the Cairngorm National Park.  Newtonmore is a friendly village with a good sized supermarket and several pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants.  

By Road
Newtonmore is just off the A9 Perth to Inverness road.  Inverness is approximately 43 miles to the north of Newtonmore with Perth approximately 68 miles to the south.   Newtonmore is at the junction of A9 north to south main route and the A86 which passes by Loch Laggan and Spean Bridge towards Fort William and the west coast.

Heading north on the A9, turn off at the junction for Newtonmore on to the B9150, Perth Road.  Travel over the railway bridge and then the River Spey bridge, once past the Eilan Shinty field on your left hand until you will reach the Newtonmore Grill Diner (approximately 1 mile). You will then see the sign for Balvatin Cottages on the left. 

Please park in the space reserved for Steading 5 as indicated on the map below on the right hand side of the buildings. It is parking space number 1. Alternatively parking is available in the visitor car park area.  Number 5 is accessed by walking down the right-hand side of the buildings. 

Public transport
Newtonmore  is on the London to Inverness mainline railway with links to Aviemore, Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh. This gives the option of using the train to arrive at your holiday cottage.    The overnight sleeper from London Euston arrives will allow you to leave the city in the evening andf wake up to the Highland air of Newtonmore first thing in the morning.   A local bus service is also available to travel from Edinburgh. Perth and Glasgow in the south and Aviemore and Inverness in the north.

If arriving by train, Steading 5 is approximately 1/2 mile from Newtonmore station.   Exit the station and walk down Station Road until you meet the junction with Perth Road.  Turn left and you will see Balvatin Cottages on the opposite side of the road after 100 yards.
